Vin Santo continued his consistent preparation with another strong performance at the Sunshine Coast on Friday, 11 September, finishing second in the Guardian Body Corporate Audit Services Class 3 Plate over 1400m.
Beginning from barrier 10, Vin Santo was asked to do plenty of work early before finding his way forward and eventually settling outside the race leader.
He travelled strongly into the straight and looked a genuine winning chance before the eventual winner, Cutepi, shifted across his line near the 80m mark, forcing Vin Santo to check his stride. Cutepi went on to win by 2.4 lengths, although the margin would likely have been considerably closer had Vin Santo been able to maintain his momentum through the final stages.
It was another excellent effort from Vin Santo and continues an impressively consistent campaign, with three starts so far, producing a win and two seconds.
With his form holding strongly, a favourable barrier draw could be all he needs to add another win this preparation.
Preparation record: 3 starts ›› 1 x win, 2 x 2nds
