Rose Noir continued her outstanding consistency with a courageous second placing in the RAMBLA Class 4 Handicap (Race 5) at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
Jockey Jagg Guthmann-Chester gave Rose Noir a perfect ride, jumping cleanly from the barriers before settling her in fourth position throughout the running. Turning for home, she was tucked in neatly behind the two leaders before Jagg eased her off the fence approaching the 200-metre mark, giving her clear running to the finish.
Rose Noir responded strongly, producing a determined finishing burst over the final 150 metres to narrowly miss victory, going down by just a quarter of a length. She was charging through the line, and with another 20 metres to run, she may well have claimed the win.
Trainer Renita Beaton presented Rose Noir in outstanding condition, and the mare once again showed the determination and finishing strength that has become her trademark.
The stable will now look to step her up slightly in distance, with a suitable 1100-metre race in the coming fortnight expected to be her next assignment.
Another terrific performance from Rose Noir and another exciting result for the AHA Racing ownership group, with plenty to look forward to as she continues her excellent campaign.
