Le Chocolat continued his comeback with a very encouraging second trial on Thursday, 1 February at Murwillumbah.
Finishing a close third – beaten only a nose – Le Chocolat was allowed to run under his own steam, with the jockey never asking for full effort. The two runners to his inside were ridden out to the line, but Matthew Dunn made it clear this wasn’t a trial he was trying to win. It was about giving Le Chocolat a smooth, positive hit-out and maintaining his rhythm.
Matt was delighted with how the horse travelled and finished off, and confirmed he’ll head to the races within the next two weeks. It’s a great sign to see Le Chocolat back in form and full fitness after a couple of injury hiccups earlier in his career.
Stay tuned – it looks like he’s ready to put in a big performance when he resumes.
